December 2008: Two-Up Saddle Stitching For Long Runs

A rule of the graphic arts industry is the longer the run, the better the production speed. Some layout tweaks yield minor production gains, but others, like changing to a two-up format, can come close to doubling productivity.

Consider long run saddle stitching. Running jobs two-up on a high speed saddle stitching line requires longer set-ups, but doubling the output makes the additional set up time worth it. Every job teetering between a one-up and a two-up layout has a "break-even" point and your helpful Rapid Bind estimators try to help our clients make the best decisions to save time and money.
