April 2009: Save Time, Money and Paper with Horseshoe Gluing

We remind our customers all the time about the value of advance planning with your bindery. This is especially important for direct mail applications. With the huge print volumes common in direct mail projects, even minor layout tweaks can yield serious savings in time, money and paper.

Consider mail order envelopes (MOEs). A typical MOE design that calls for seam gluing to create a pocket will require four panels. But horseshoe gluing allows you to create the same piece using only three panels. By applying seam glue along three edges of a folded piece to form the pocket, you can cut paper use by 25% - without compromising quality or production speed.

Reduced paper use equals lower costs and faster production - and a better chance of you winning the job. That's the value of advance planning with Rapid Bind.
